There are highways and bridges that are frequently used in urban and intercity transportation, especially during holiday periods, such as holiday visits and travel plans. In order not to encounter surprise expenses during the time spent on the road, most drivers wonder which toll roads are. In this article, we focus on which bridges and highways are toll roads.
First of all, it is necessary to know that the fee paid while using these toll roads varies according to the class of the vehicle. According to the class of these vehicles, the fees of vehicles such as cars, minibuses, passenger buses, trucks, trucks and trailers differ from each other.
Classification of vehicles;
- The cars are first class,

- Motorcycles are in Class 6.
The toll bridges in Turkey are in the Marmara region. The bridges with the toll tariff determined by the General Directorate of Highways are given in the form of a map on the website of the General Directorate.

Motorways are one of the most important roads that ensure the development of the transportation line. They are both useful for faster transportation and provide a safe driving experience due to the wide width of the highways. The first highway opened in Turkey was the Istanbul 1st Ring Road completed in 1973. Especially in travel plans such as holiday trips, you can easily travel with cars purchased from car rental companies.
A person who will go from Istanbul to Izmir by renting a car from a rent a car agency or with his own car can use the highway by crossing the Osmangazi Bridge. OGS, known as the Automatic Pass System, or HGS, known as the Fast Pass System, is used to pay tolls on highway crossings or bridges. The toll booths of these systems are located separately at the bridges and highway entrances. An electronic device is placed in the vehicles belonging to these systems. Thus, you can pass quickly by paying without waiting at the toll booths. However, when using these systems, it is useful to check the balance in advance. If you bought your car from a car rental company, you can get information about the tolls by contacting the company beforehand.
Not all vehicles are allowed to cross the bridges in Istanbul. For example, only first class vehicles, public transportation vehicles, passenger vehicles, N1 class emergency ambulance and emergency health vehicles can pass through the July 15 Martyrs Bridge.
On the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, only first class vehicles, second class vehicles (excluding trucks and buses), shuttles, public transportation vehicles, caravans and some cars with official license plates are allowed to pass.
Drivers who want to avoid congested traffic while traveling through the region often choose toll roads. For example, if you use the Northern Marmara Motorway in heavy traffic, you can travel without getting stuck in the traffic in the city center. With the Northern Marmara Motorway, which continues along the European and Anatolian sides, you can travel from Kınalı to the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and Akyazı district of Sakarya. You can visit the KMO Motorway website of the General Directorate of Highways to learn the tolls of all toll exit points along the way.
One of the points to be considered when using toll roads is that if there is not enough balance in your HGS and OGS account, you will be in violation. If you top up your HGS account within 15 days, you will pay the standard toll. However, if you miss the deadline without realizing that you have committed a toll violation, you have to pay a late payment fee of 4 times this fee, including the toll.
